2019 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Moon Mountain

Moon Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is a part of our Appellation Series with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and the same 40% used French oak, 60% new French oak as always to truly showcase the Moon Mountain fruit by itself.

“Made with fruit sourced from among the most unique AVAs in Sonoma County, Moon Mountain, this Small Block Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the essence of this appellation located on the eastern edge of Sonoma County known for steep slopes and high elevation. More recently established in 2013, the Moon Mountain AVA delivers wines that are characterized by deep, dark fruit qualities. Our 2019 Moon Mountain Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is inky and opaque with aromas of blackberry and boysenberry pie. On the palate, intense, rich flavors of black fruits, vanilla and baking spice are followed by structured tannins.”

–Stephanie Pope, Winemaker

Each vintage presents a unique set of conditions, and we approach every year ready to face the challenge. For vintage 2018, budbreak began on schedule at the end of February, and spring brought moderate temperatures that progressed into a warm summer without any disruptive heat spikes. Steady growing conditions continued through Harvest, which began in mid-September for the white varieties. We continued picking our red varieties long into the first weeks of November. With such lengthy hang time, the fruit matured consistently and was picked at its peak, promising exceptional flavor in bottle.
