The Hess collection Winery was founded on Donald Hess’ belief that great wines come from vineyards of distinction. To emphasize and clarify this guiding principle, we continue to make changes to our brand tiers and labels to better reflect the vineyard site that each wine comes from. We believe that this will make it easier for all of our customers to distinguish between the different Hess Collection Wines.

Hess Collection Mount Veeder – Napa Valley
Donald Hess’ European perspective led him to choose Mount Veeder, 2,000 feet above sea level with its diverse mix of exposures, thin volcanic and sedimentary soils, and low yielding vines. He understood that grapes grown on the mountains express themselves differently than those grown on the valley floor. Hess Collection Mount Veeder
Hess Single Vineyard Wines – Napa Valley
Hess Vineyard Designate wines come from our winery-owned Napa Valley Estate Vineyards. These vineyards were chosen specifically for the qualities of their location including specific soil profiles, meso-climates and topography.
Hess Appellation Wines
These wines are considered a reference point for California wines for quality and affordability. Full of fruit character and an impressively direct varietal style. These wines receive the same winemaking attention to detail as our Hess Collection Mount Veeder and Hess Vineyard Designate Series wines.
I would like to make a comment on our commitment at The Hess Collection to do whatever we can to minimize our impact on the planet and to make ourselves as “green” as possible.
