The Hess Collection Visitor's Center & The Hess Art Collection

The winery and art museum are open daily for public visits, tours and tastings. Groups up to 8 people are invited to taste four current release wines, many available only at the winery, for $10 per person.  Larger groups are asked to contact the winery’s guest relations staff at 707.255.1144 x226, or email the Visitor's Center. To allow the winery to plan optimal service for guests, on-line reservations are strongly suggested at The Hess Collection.

The Hess Collection Contemporary Art Museum, featuring works from the private collection of proprietor Donald Hess, is open daily without charge. Self-guided iPod® audio tours are available. Complimentary winery tours, including an overview of The Hess Collection Winery and Vineyards are offered daily between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Please call 707.255.8584 to confirm current schedules. No reservations are required for these tours.

There are several options for a more comprehensive visitor experience:

Private Tour & Wine Tasting:  Daily, $25 per person, advanced reservations requested.
Tour the winery, followed by a current release wine presentation with your own private host.

Tour Of The Palate:  Thursday, Friday & Saturday 2:00 p.m., $85 per person.
Advanced reservations required.
Enjoy a guided tour of The Hess Collection Contemporary Art Museum followed by a tasting of three current release wines expertly paired with three exquisite creations from Hess Collection's Executive Chef, Chad Hendrickson.

Tour, Wine & Chocolate Experience:  Daily, $65 per person, advanced reservations required.
Enjoy a private tour of the Hess Collection, followed by a current release wine tasting of four wines paired with artisan truffles developed and handcrafted with TCHO chocolate by our Pastry Chef and Chocolatier, Emma Kate Veader. This is a unique, educational experience with one of a kind chocolates. Please allow 90 minutes for this tour and tasting experience.

Tour, Wine & Cheese Pairing: Daily, $65 per person, advanced reservations required.
Enjoy an educational wine production tour with your own private host from The Hess Collection, followed by a current release wine presentation paired with Artisan cheeses served with seasonal fruits and nuts selected by Hess Executive Chef Chad Hendrickson.

Wine Educational Tour & Tasting Tutorial
This comprehensive two hour wine analysis course, presented by staff member Bob Becker, Certified Sommelier (C.S.), Certified Wine Professional (CWP) is offered periodically on Sunday afternoons beginning at 1PM.

The class begins with an orientation and a tasting of the complimentary visitor center wine of the day and proceeds with a visit to a historical vineyard to discuss relevant viticultural topics. The tour then continues to the fermentation cellar and a 107 year old barrel room during which time related topics on fermentation and barrel influence are discussed. Tour members will have the opportunity to analyze five wines during a tutorial on wine knowledge foundation, tasting technique and wine evaluation.

Cost is $40 per person and advance appointment is required. Space is limited to 12 participants, reservations may be accepted same-day if space is available.Classes are offered seasonally on Sundays with dates posted on website. Class begins promptly at 1:00 PM. Additional dates may be added upon Bob's availability, so please check back often or call for special requests. The current Sunday schedule of classes:

Wine & Cheese Tasting In The Garden Courtyard:  Available weather permitting, Spring through Fall, Groups of 8 or less. Reservations required.
Taste underneath vines of wisteria, surrounded by contemporary sculptures and beautifully landscaped gardens. Experience our newest pairing of Mount Veeder Wines with Artisanal cheeses in the comfort of our newly created reclaimed teak wood tables and chairs. Cost is $10 for the Mount Veeder wine sampler and $30 for the six oz. cheese plate with crackers, dried fruits and nuts (tax not included).
